Starting Up A Music Career 101

A lot of Nigerian upcoming artiste do not have the knowledge of building up a music career properly, most of them just go to the studio and bring out noise they call music and expect people to listen to it with no marketing strategy, no real talent and poor PR (music promotion)


 SET UP A BRAND

Starting a music career any where in the world (already including Nigeria) you have to SET UP A MUSIC BRAND. Give your self a meaningful stage name that is very catchy and not whack to spell and pronounce, then go onto the  the internet on different social networks like INSTAGRAM and TWITTER  this is the first step for publicity and do you know what?..... They are all free.Dont forget to drop a contact for bookings and enquires,  Then get some studio pictures or go for a photo shoot if your pocket is smiling at you....... JUST Try hard enough to make it look professional. NEVER FORGET THE INTERNET IS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS......

RELEASE A TRACK/SONG

get into a studio NIGGA, MURDER ALL BEATS, make sure the producer makes you SOUND PROFESSIONAL. Please and please..... Also have meaningful lyrics and an  INSANE HOOK(this is what makes your song stick to people's brains)...   No one wants too listen to some crappy sh*t you might call a track. Also the rappers PLEASE FLOW TO THE BEAT. SO after mixing and mastering get a art cover for the track/song(WE HELP PEOPLE DO THIS IN KHC......... CONTACT 07066472882 ). 

PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC 🎶 

Now we are getting to the hard part, do not expect any of this to be easy, it's bussiness so its not easy. Also don't feel sad when your music doesn't receive acceptance from people. Now, let's continue .......get your music to  very nice radio stations,bloggers, DJs or OAPs (ONLINE AIR PERSONALITY) don't expect not to drop some cash OH my brother and sister noting is free. Or if you are lucky enough you might know people who are already in those kind of  positions . So don't forget to drop your info ( so people who hear and enjoy your music can follow you on the social networks you set up earlier (at this point you begin to build a fanbase). Beg the DJs too play you (your song) at parties or in the club don't forget to tell give the DJ info about your music brand ..... So if people ask "DJ who be that (interested in your song)"? The DJ would be able to give more of your music lover your info...........  Networking is everything.

SHOW TIME!!!

At this point if people are really loving you they would try to contact you for shows and collabos and if you feel the fanbase isn't big enough and you still want to promote, give out free shows Olamide, Dagrin etc did this at a point in there careers even young boss lil kesh. BE A CROWED PULLER AND A SHOW KILLER . DONT FORGET YOUR FANS MATTER 

BALANCING 

Yes the last things...... Balancing and constant levitation........ Don't be a one hit wonder..... Don't blow and go.... Don't blow and drop......when you notice the net worth of your brand has increased to some point get a manager for yourself. Also be versatile in your music 🎶. Don't keeping on giving them the same flows and Melody and expect them to like It..... Cause fans can make or break you.
